The original 'Grand Hotel'
The Langham, at the top of Regent Street, was built in 1865 as Europe's first 'Grand Hotel'. The hotel has hosted some of the most iconic names of the last 150 years including Mark Twain, Napoleon III, Oscar Wilde, Arturo Toscanini, Wallis Simpson and Noel Coward.
More recently, approximately £200 million has been spent restoring and refurbishing this remarkable hotel to a 21st Century 5 star luxury standard. The last phase of investment, to the tune of £80 million, was completed in April 2009.
From the moment one arrives in the spotless white carrara-marble lobby the impeccable good taste and uncompromising quality of the new Langham is striking. The principal restaurant is the Landau, created out of the Langham's original ballroom. The Landau is a leading London restaurant in its own right and offers the finest contemporary European dishes with the best of British seasonal ingredients. Palm Court is the heart of the hotel and is famed as the place where the tradition of afternoon tea was born 150 years ago. One can also enjoy an evening glass or two of fine champagne in its exquisite surroundings. The Artesian, named after the 360ft-deep well under the hotel, is the Langham's glamorous cocktail bar offering a fantastic list of cocktails and rum inventions.
After all that fine food and a few rum cocktails you may wish to take advantage of the complimentary access to the stunning pool, fitness studio, sauna and steam room. The Langham's Health and Fitness Club is located in a former bank vault on the Regent Street side of the hotel.
Iconic Hotels offers the Langham's Classic and Grand rooms, Club rooms and Suites. Club Rooms and Suites will accommodate a child up to 12 years old free of charge and additionally there are good inter-connecting room options for larger families.
