May Fair

May Fair is the product of a 17th century annual spring fair granted to London’s civic population by King’s Charles II. This exclusive London ward grew up around the siting of the ancient fair and is today one of London’s premier districts with fine town houses, the world’s leading labels including Tiffany’s, Chanel, Louis Vitton, Ralph Lauren and Burberry along the famed Bond Street, the premier rooms from the world’s leading auction houses Sothebys and Bonhams (Christies is just across Piccadilly in St James) and some of London’s very finest dining and top nightspots.

Piccadilly

This famous street geographically defines the southern edge of Mayfair. It is home to perhaps the most famous hotel in London and possibly the World, The Ritz. It also boasts the Royal Academy – home to London’s and Britain’s art establishment. The Summer show is a must see showcasing the newest artistic talents alongside the established modern day masters. Further along Piccadilly book lovers will find Waterstones’ flagship shop – if you’re looking for a book you’ve a good chance of finding it or just inspiration here. Piccadilly terminates at Piccadilly Circus which for all intents and purposes is the start of theatreland.

Theatreland

For well over a century the West End and Covent Garden have been the heart of London’s theatreland. Mayfair is just to the western side of theatreland – largely abutting the theatrical district. It’s a short walk to many theatres from the May Fair hotel or, traffic permitting, a quick cab ride.

It would be almost rude not to take in a show whilst in London so why not take advantage of Iconic Club’s allocation of top tickets offered in conjunction with your reservation at The May Fair Hotel. Just call our theatre experts on 0800 496 8888.
